Dapat dilihat dengan jelas bahwa tembok bagian belakang toko tersebut telah roboh sepenuhnya. Keruntuhan struktur tembok ini lantas membuka jalan bagi air dari Kali Baru untuk mengalir tanpa terkendali ke badan jalan. Aliran air yang deras ini terus menerus menggempur area sekitarnya.
Menurut kesaksian warga setempat, Rahmat (39), kejadian berlangsung sekitar pukul 19.30 WIB, tepat ketika hujan deras sedang mengguyur kawasan tersebut. “Tetapi temboknya tidak langsung jebol begitu saja, prosesnya bertahap. Awalnya air mengikis pondasinya pelan-pelan sampai akhirnya ambrol,” jelas Rahmat saat diwawancarai di lokasi kejadian pada Jumat malam.

Rahmat juga menambahkan bahwa pemilik toko sempat mendapat peringatan alam lebih dulu. “Alhamdulillah, saya lihat sendiri pemilik toko itu bergerak cepat untuk menyelamatkan barang-barang dagangannya sebelum banjir besar terjadi. Dia sudah mengangkut banyak barang,” tutur Rahmat menggambarkan aksi pemilik toko yang menyelamatkan asetnya.
Tak lama setelah banjir melanda, sejumlah warga pun berkerumun untuk menyaksikan dan mendokumentasikan peristiwa tersebut. Mereka melaporkan bahwa ketinggian air saat itu mencapai sekitar 50 sentimeter, cukup untuk menerjang kendaraan roda dua.
Selain itu, warga juga aktif saling membantu dengan mengingatkan para pengendara yang akan melintas. Mereka memberi tahu bahwa arus air sangat kencang dan berisiko menghanyutkan kendaraan, sehingga banyak pengendara memutuskan untuk mencari jalur alternatif.
Bahkan, banyak pengendara yang datang dari arah Pasar Rebo langsung memutar balik atau membelokkan kendaraannya menuju arah Pinang Ranti untuk menghindari wilayah banjir. Sementara itu, kendaraan dari arah Cililitan juga memilih berbelok melalui Perumahan Bulak Rantai. Dampaknya, kemacetan parah terjadi di Jalan Raya Bogor dengan antrean mengular mencapai sekitar satu kilometer.
Sementara situasi masih berlangsung, sejumlah petugas dari Dinas Penanggulangan Kebakaran dan Penyelamatan (Gulkarmat), Suku Dinas Sumber Daya Air (SDA), kepolisian, serta Dinas Lingkungan Hidup terlihat sudah berada di lokasi. Mereka berjaga-jaga dan siaga penuh untuk membantu warga yang masih mencoba melintas maupun yang terdampak banjir.
