Kelaparan Global Turun di 2024, Tapi Masih Ada Ketimpangan

Roma (Desapenari.id) – Kabar baik datang dari laporan terbaru PBB! Tingkat kelaparan global berhasil turun untuk kedua kalinya secara berturut-turut pada 2024. Dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya, sekitar 15 juta orang terbebas dari jerat kelaparan. Namun, sayangnya, kemajuan ini belum dirasakan secara merata. Beberapa wilayah, terutama di Afrika dan Asia Barat, justru menghadapi peningkatan kelaparan akibat krisis pangan dan inflasi yang terus membebani.

Laporan State of Food Security and Nutrition in the World (SOFI) 2025 resmi dirilis pada Senin (28/7) oleh lima badan PBB, termasuk FAO, WFP, dan WHO. Mereka memaparkan temuan ini dalam UN Food Systems Summit Stocktaking Moment di Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Perbaikan Global, Tapi Masih Ada Masalah Serius
Secara global, sekitar 8,2% populasi dunia—atau 638 juta hingga 720 juta orang—masih mengalami kelaparan di 2024.

Namun, di balik tren positif ini, laporan ini juga mengungkap fakta memprihatinkan. Kelaparan justru semakin parah di sebagian besar wilayah Afrika dan Asia Barat.

Inflasi Harga Pangan Jadi Tantangan Besar
Salah satu penghambat utama dalam mencapai ketahanan pangan global adalah melonjaknya harga makanan. Laporan ini menegaskan, sejak akhir 2020, inflasi pangan telah memperburuk kerawanan pangan di semua lapisan masyarakat.

“Kelompok berpenghasilan rendah menjadi yang paling menderita,” tulis laporan tersebut. Pada 2024, sekitar 2,6 miliar orang (31,9% populasi dunia) masih kesulitan membeli makanan sehat. Meski angka ini turun dari 33,5% di 2022, kondisi ini tetap mengkhawatirkan, terutama di negara-negara rentan secara ekonomi.

Kesenjangan Makin Terlihat di Negara Miskin
Ketimpangan semakin nyata ketika melihat data dari negara berpenghasilan rendah dan menengah ke bawah. Di negara miskin, jumlah orang yang tak mampu membeli makanan sehat melonjak dari 464 juta (2019) menjadi 545 juta (2024). Sementara di negara menengah ke bawah (tidak termasuk India), angkanya naik dari 791 juta menjadi 869 juta dalam periode yang sama.

Target 2030 Masih Jauh dari Jangkauan
Laporan ini memperingatkan bahwa dunia masih jauh dari target penghapusan kelaparan pada 2030. Konflik, perubahan iklim, inflasi, dan ketidaksetaraan terus menjadi penghalang besar.

Negara-negara harus memperkuat kerja sama, meningkatkan bantuan pangan, dan menciptakan sistem pangan yang lebih tangguh. Tanpa langkah konkret, target Zero Hunger pada 2030 bisa jadi hanya sekadar mimpi.
