ACEH TIMUR, Desapenari.id – Bayangkan puluhan raksasa liar tiba-tiba menginvasi tempat pencaharian Anda. Inilah kenyataan pahit yang sedang meneror warga di empat desa Aceh Timur. Ya, dalam dua pekan terakhir, kawanan gajah liar telah menyapu bersih kebun-kebun warga di Kecamatan Indra Makmur, menciptakan atmosfer ketakutan yang begitu nyata.
Akibatnya, desa-desa seperti Jambo Reuhat, Seumanah Jaya, Julok Rayeuk Selatan, dan Seneubok Bayu sekarang berubah menjadi zona bahaya. Bahkan lebih parah lagi, warga dari Kecamatan Indra Makmur hingga Banda Alam kini sama sekali tidak berani mendekati kebun mereka sendiri! Rasa was-was bertemu dengan kolosal yang dilindungi itu benar-benar melumpuhkan aktivitas harian mereka.
Kemudian, seorang petani bernama Nurdin dari Desa Jambo Reuhat mengambil inisiatif. Tanpa menunggu lebih lama, dia segera melaporkan kekacauan ini kepada Badan Konservasi Sumber Daya Alam (BKSDA) Provinsi Aceh. “Untuk sementara kami terpaksa mengunci diri dari kebun, takut ketemu dengan gajah. Soalnya, jumlahnya benar-benar membludak, mereka berkeliaran seenaknya dan menghancurkan semua yang kami tanam,” ujar Nurdin dengan nada frustasi. Alhasil, tanaman seperti pisang, sawit, dan berbagai palawija tersisa hanya menjadi kenangan pahit di atas tanah yang terinjak-injak.
Di sisi lain, harapan untuk kembali beraktivitas masih menyala. Nurdin dan warga sangat berharap agar gajah-gajah tersebut dapat diarahkan kembali ke hutan. Namun demikian, karena situasi mendesak, mereka tidak bisa hanya diam menunggu. Maka dari itu, aksi swadaya pun mereka jalankan. “Kami terpaksa mengandalkan mercon dan petasan untuk mengusir mereka. Begitu mereka diusir dari satu kebun, mereka pindah ke kebun lain, dan kami harus terus mengikuti pergerakan mereka,” jelas Nurdin dengan tekad bulat. Singkatnya, sebuah perlawanan keras nan penuh strategi terus mereka lakukan untuk mempertahankan sisa-sisa penghidupan mereka.
Selanjutnya, mari kita lihat lebih dalam. Konflik manusia-gajah di Aceh bukanlah hal baru, tetapi intensitas kali ini benar-benar melampaui batas. Pertama-tama, perlu dipahami bahwa hilangnya koridor alami dan ruang jelajah gajah telah memicu insiden seperti ini. Sebagai contoh, ketika hutan semakin menyempit, para raksasa herbivora ini akhirnya mencari sumber makanan ke pemukiman. Oleh karena itu, pendekatan jangka panjang harus segera dirumuskan oleh pihak berwenang.
Selain itu, upaya swadaya warga, meski heroik, menyimpan risiko besar. Bayangkan saja, penggunaan mercon dan petasan bisa memicu stres pada gajah, justru membuat perilaku mereka semakin tidak terduga dan berbahaya. Lebih jauh lagi, keselamatan warga sendiri terancam jika terjadi kesalahan dalam penanganan. Maka, langkah preventif dan mitigasi wajib diperkuat.
Sementara itu, peran BKSDA sebagai otoritas konservasi sedang diuji di lapangan. Tidak hanya sekadar menampung laporan, tetapi solusi konkret harus segera diimplementasikan. Misalnya, pembentukan tim pemantau dan penggiring secara rutin, pemasangan early warning system berbasis teknologi, hingga kompensasi yang tepat bagi petani yang kehilangan hasil panen perlu dievaluasi ulang. Jika tidak, kepercayaan masyarakat akan semakin terkikis.
Pada akhirnya, cerita ini adalah tentang ketahanan masyarakat kecil. Meskipun demikian, mereka tidak boleh dibiarkan berjuang sendirian. Pada dasarnya, keseimbangan antara perlindungan satwa dilindungi dan perlindungan hak hidup warga harus ditemukan. Artinya, kolaborasi antara pemerintah, lembaga konservasi, dan masyarakat mutlak diperlukan. Dengan kata lain, hanya melalui sinergi, konflik ini bisa diakhiri tanpa ada pihak yang dirugikan.
