SAMARINDA, Desapenari.id – Kasus perambahan hutan untuk penambangan ilegal di Kawasan Hutan Dengan Tujuan Khusus (KHDTK) Universitas Mulawarman (Unmul) atau Kebun Raya Unmul Samarinda (KRUS) akhirnya mulai terungkap. Setelah ramai diperbincangkan sejak 4 April 2025, Direktorat Reserse Kriminal Khusus (Ditreskrimsus) Polda Kalimantan Timur (Kaltim) berhasil menetapkan satu tersangka berinisial R.
Polisi mengungkap bahwa tersangka R berperan sebagai pemodal sekaligus otak di balik operasi penambangan ilegal di kawasan konservasi itu. AKBP Meilki Bharata, Wakil Direktur Reserse Kriminal Khusus (Wadirreskrimsus) Polda Kaltim, membenarkan penangkapan ini. “Benar, kami sudah menetapkan tersangka R. Dia yang punya inisiatif dan mendanai aktivitas tambang ilegal di KRUS,” tegas Bharata saat dikonfirmasi Jumat (11/7/2025).
Unmul Minta Polisi Usut Sampai ke Aktor Intelektual
Meski satu tersangka sudah diamankan, Unmul mendesak aparat hukum untuk tidak berhenti di level operator lapangan atau pemodal kecil. Mereka menuntut agar polisi membongkar aktor intelektual yang mungkin terlibat. Menanggapi hal ini, Bharata memastikan penyidikan akan terus berlanjut. “Kami tidak akan berhenti di R. Proses penyidikan akan kami kejar sejauh mungkin selama bukti masih kuat,” tegasnya.
Bharata juga menjelaskan bahwa hasil persidangan R nantinya bisa menjadi landasan untuk mengembangkan kasus ini. Namun, dia enggan membeberkan identitas lengkap R atau kemungkinan tersangka lain demi menjaga kelancaran penyelidikan. “Ini menyangkut teknis penyidikan yang masih berjalan. Kami tidak bisa detailkan dulu, takut mengganggu proses,” ujarnya.
Ada Dua Ranah Hukum yang Terlibat
Selain itu, Bharata memaparkan bahwa ada dua ranah penanganan berbeda dalam kasus ini. Polda Kaltim fokus pada pertambangan ilegal (ilegal minerba), sementara Gakkum Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan (KLHK) menangani aspek kehutanan dan kerusakan lingkungan. “Meski lokasinya sama, pasal yang kami gunakan berbeda. Kami akan terus berkoordinasi dengan Gakkum KLHK,” jelasnya.

Bharata menegaskan, temuan dari Gakkum KLHK akan menjadi bahan pertimbangan untuk memperkuat penyidikan Polda Kaltim. “Kerja sama antara kedua lembaga ini sangat penting karena kasusnya saling terkait,” imbuhnya.
Sebelumnya, terungkap bahwa KSU Putra Mahakam Mandiri, salah satu perusahaan pemegang Izin Usaha Pertambangan (IUP), pernah mengajukan surat kerja sama penambangan ke Unmul pada Agustus 2024. Namun, pihak kampus menolak tegas proposal tersebut. Penolakan ini membuktikan komitmen Unmul dalam menjaga kelestarian KHDTK-nya.
Kasus ini mendapat perhatian serius karena KRUS bukan sekadar hutan biasa. Kawasan ini berfungsi sebagai area konservasi, penelitian, dan edukasi bagi masyarakat dan akademisi.
