Meski terlihat seperti perubahan kecil, fitur ini sangat menguntungkan bagi kreator, pebisnis, atau fotografer yang sering mengunggah konten portrait. Pasalnya, mereka tak perlu lagi memotong bagian tertentu dari foto agar sesuai dengan rasio sebelumnya.

Rasio 3:4 sebenarnya sudah sangat umum di smartphone, baik Android maupun iPhone. Bahkan, kebanyakan kamera HP secara default menggunakan rasio ini, bukan 4:5. Mosseri pun menegaskan bahwa dengan update ini, hasil unggahanmu bakal lebih akurat.

“Kalau kamu mengunggah konten 3:4, rasionya akan sama persis seperti hasil jepretan kamera. Fitur ini berlaku untuk foto tunggal maupun carousel,” jelas akun Instagram Creators lewat Broadcast Channel.

Dengan pembaruan ini, Instagram sekarang punya tiga pilihan rasio untuk feed:

  • 1:1 (format kotak)
  • 4:5 (rasio portrait lama)
  • 3:4 (rasio portrait baru)

Namun, menurut laporan Social Media Today, Jumat (30/5/2025), Instagram sebenarnya sudah lama beralih fokus ke konten video ketimbang foto. Platform besutan Meta ini bahkan kerap memposisikan diri sebagai tempat berbagi video, bukan sekadar gambar.

Tahun lalu, Instagram mengungkapkan bahwa lebih dari 50% konten di feed sekarang berupa Rels yang direkomendasikan AI. Reels dinilai lebih efektif membuat pengguna betah scrolling, apalagi dengan fitur interaktif seperti kolom komentar yang hidup.
