Jakarta (Desapenari.id) – Menteri Pertanian, Perikanan, dan Kehutanan Australia, Julie Collins, mengungkapkan bahwa negaranya sedang menyiapkan kesepakatan dengan Indonesia untuk kembali mengekspor produk rendering hewan. Produk ini sempat terhenti masuk ke Indonesia selama tujuh hingga delapan tahun terakhir.
“Saya rasa, cukup lama produk rendering Australia absen dari pasar Indonesia, dan hal ini sebenarnya memberi keuntungan bagi kami. Namun, yang terpenting, kerja sama ini juga akan membawa manfaat besar bagi Indonesia,” tegas Collins saat berbincang dengan media di Jakarta, Kamis.
Collins menjelaskan bahwa rencana kerja sama tersebut telah ia bahas secara resmi dengan Menteri Pertanian RI, Andi Amran Sulaiman, dalam pertemuan pagi ini. Ia menekankan bahwa langkah ini merupakan bagian dari upaya mempererat hubungan bilateral kedua negara, terutama setelah kunjungan Perdana Menteri Australia ke Indonesia pada Mei lalu.
Kunjungan Collins: Perkuat Kerja Sama Pertanian dan Perikanan
Selama berada di Jakarta, Collins tidak hanya bertemu dengan para pejabat tinggi Indonesia, tetapi juga akan menghadiri serangkaian acara penting. Tujuannya jelas: semakin memperkuat kolaborasi di sektor pertanian, perikanan, dan kehutanan antara kedua negara.
“Saya berkomitmen untuk terus menjalin kerja sama yang saling menguntungkan dengan Indonesia. Pertemuan-pertemuan ini adalah langkah konkret untuk mewujudkannya,” ujarnya.
Apa Itu Produk Rendering?
Bagi yang belum familiar, rendering di Australia merujuk pada proses pengolahan limbah hewan menjadi produk bernilai tinggi, seperti pakan ternak atau pupuk. Teknologi ini memungkinkan pemanfaatan bagian hewan yang tidak dikonsumsi manusia menjadi komoditas berguna.
Namun, sejak 1 September 2018, Indonesia menghentikan impor produk protein hewan hasil rendering dari Australia, termasuk meat-and-bone meal (tepung daging dan tulang) yang biasa digunakan sebagai bahan pakan ternak. Keputusan ini diambil setelah audit menemukan potensi kontaminasi antara produk sapi dan babi di dua fasilitas produksi Australia yang mengekspor ke Indonesia.
Collins meyakinkan bahwa Australia telah melakukan berbagai perbaikan sistem untuk memastikan keamanan produknya.
Di sisi lain, Amran Sulaiman menyambut positif rencana ini. “Kami selalu terbuka untuk kerja sama yang menguntungkan, asalkan semua persyaratan keamanan pangan terpenuhi,” katanya.
Dampak Positif bagi Peternak dan Industri
Sementara Australia akan memperluas pasar ekspornya, yang tentu saja berdampak positif bagi perekonomian mereka.
“Ini win-win solution. Indonesia dapat bahan baku pakan ternak yang lebih terjangkau, Australia dapat akses pasar yang lebih luas,” pungkas Collins.
