Lantas, bagaimana ceritanya praktik semacam ini bisa bertahan lama? Ternyata, Mandenas menerima laporan yang sangat detail dari masyarakat setempat. Menurut laporan tersebut, di Distrik Kirihi Walai, terdapat sebuah tambang ilegal berskala besar yang telah aktif sejak enam tahun lalu. Menanggapi temuan serius ini, Mandenas tidak main-main. Ia telah melakukan koordinasi intensif dengan pihak Presiden Prabowo Subianto. Fokusnya jelas, yaitu mendukung program pemberantasan tambang ilegal di seluruh Indonesia, dengan Papua sebagai prioritas utama. Oleh karena itu, ia mendesak Polda Papua beserta Kodam XVII/Cenderawasih untuk segera turun tangan dan membersihkan kawasan tambang ilegal di Waropen dalam waktu dekat.
Namun, tunggu dulu, pelanggaran di tempat ini ternyata sangat kompleks dan berlapis! Selain jelas-jelas mengabaikan aturan perizinan dan lingkungan, operasi tambang ini juga dituding melakukan pelanggaran HAM dan ketenagakerjaan yang sangat serius. Coba tebak, siapa yang bekerja di sana? Ternyata, ada dugaan kuat keterlibatan Tenaga Kerja Asing (TKA) ilegal asal Tiongkok yang tidak memiliki visa kerja resmi. Sementara itu, nasib pekerja lokal justru lebih memilukan. Mereka dilaporkan tidak menerima upah yang layak. Di sisi lain, aktivitas pengangkutan alat berat ke lokasi masih terus berjalan tanpa henti. Praktis, hal ini berpotensi memperparah kerusakan ekosistem Waropen yang sudah telanjur terluka.
Menyikapi situasi yang sudah darurat ini, Mandenas pun menegaskan pentingnya penertiban yang serius dan menyeluruh. Sebagai acuan, ia mengajak semua pihak untuk mencontoh upaya pemberantasan serupa yang sebelumnya sukses dilakukan di Kabupaten Manokwari. Harapannya sangat jelas: aparat penegak hukum harus segera bergerak cepat. Tujuannya bukan hanya menghentikan aktivitas ilegal tersebut, tetapi juga melindungi hak-hak masyarakat adat pemilik ulayat serta menjaga kelestarian lingkungan Papua untuk generasi mendatang. Singkatnya, momentum untuk bertindak sekarang juga tidak bisa ditunda lebih lama lagi!
