Awalnya, Didi tidak punya pengalaman di dunia kuliner. Ia bekerja sebagai pegawai kantoran sebelum memutuskan terjun ke usaha makanan. Kesempatan datang saat pemilik lama ingin menjual warung yang hampir tutup. Didi langsung mengambil alih dan mulai mengelola warung tersebut.
Kwetiau 79 tidak hanya menawarkan kwetiau. Didi juga menyajikan berbagai menu Chinese food seperti nasi goreng, bihun, mie goreng, hingga capcay. Semua menu dijual dengan harga terjangkau, mulai Rp 18.000 hingga Rp 30.000 per porsi.
Salah satu kunci sukses warung ini adalah kreasi Didi, yaitu menu Ayam Cabai Garam. Menu seharga Rp 22.000 ini menjadi favorit banyak pelanggan. Ayamnya renyah di luar dan empuk di dalam, dengan rasa asin dan pedas yang pas.
Didi awalnya membuat Ayam Cabai Garam untuk dirinya sendiri. Namun, banyak pelanggan yang menyukainya hingga akhirnya masuk daftar menu tetap.
Menu lain yang populer adalah Kwetiau Goreng Spesial Ayam dan Nasi Goreng Oriental. Keduanya dimasak dengan wajan besar yang memberikan aroma smoky khas Chinese food.
Kwetiau Goreng Spesial Ayam dihargai Rp 25.000 dengan porsi melimpah. Didi menyajikan Nasi Goreng Oriental seharga Rp 22.000 tanpa kecap dengan rasa gurih yang kuat.
Mahasiswa BINUS menjadi pelanggan setia Kwetiau 79. Dalam sehari, Didi bisa menjual hingga 300 porsi nasi goreng dan kwetiau. Warung ini buka setiap hari mulai pukul 08.00 hingga 19.00.
