Inspirasi dari Desa Petingsari Yogyakarta
Oban terinspirasi dari Desa Petingsari di Yogyakarta dan menerapkan konsep serupa di Sukalaksana. Setelah mengamati keberhasilan desa tersebut dalam mengembangkan pariwisata berbasis komunitas, ia mulai merancang strategi yang sesuai dengan potensi lokal. Bersama warga dan BUMDes, ia memanfaatkan rumah khas desa, rumah palupuh, serta sumber mata air Ciburial sebagai daya tarik utama. Selain itu, ia menggali potensi lain, seperti pertanian organik, peternakan domba Garut, dan budaya khas Sunda untuk menciptakan pengalaman wisata yang lebih lengkap. Dengan pendekatan yang terstruktur, ia memastikan bahwa setiap elemen wisata di desa ini tetap mempertahankan nilai tradisi, tetapi juga bisa memberikan manfaat ekonomi bagi masyarakat setempat.
Mengusung Keaslian Alam dan Budaya Lokal
Desa wisata ini menawarkan pengalaman autentik dengan tetap mempertahankan keaslian alam dan budaya lokal. Pengunjung dapat menikmati perkebunan sawi yang hijau dan subur, serta melihat langsung proses budidaya domba Garut yang menjadi salah satu ikon daerah. Selain itu, penduduk desa menyajikan teh kewer dengan cita rasa khas dan menyeduh kopi menggunakan metode tradisional untuk dinikmati oleh para pengunjung.

Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDes) Sukalaksana kini mengelola Desa Wisata Saung Ciburial. Bank BRI turut berperan dalam pengembangan desa dengan memberikan bantuan peralatan, pendampingan, dan dana sejak tahun 2019.
